Who’s dating who? David Cook has caught Kimberly Caldwell and it seems they are in the early stages of dating.

In an excerpt: The newly crowned “Idol” winner said Tuesday on “Live With Regis and Kelly” that he recently had a dinner date with former “Idol” contestant Kimberly Caldwell.

Cook, 25, said he met Caldwell through the show. When asked if he had a good time, Cook replied: “I did. We’ll probably hang out again. So we’ll see.”

David now ranks number 1 in iTunes, has six singles in the Top 50 Billboard Magazine’s hot 100 list.

David Cook Defends Jason Castro in Larry King

Jason Castro was being perceived as someone who smokes weed based on a question he received during the Larry King show.

David has this to say of Jason: “I actually lived with Castro for a while. And I can promose you that representation of him is completely false.”

In an excerpt of the story:

Cook said he always wondered how Archuleta and he were going to sound on the duet they performed last week.

“A lot of the feedback was positive,” Cook said, “so …”

“Really?” Archuleta snapped. “That’s good. At least it is on his side. I think he would just drown my voice out.”

Cook then got diplomatic, then offered a friendly jab at his ex-roommate, Jason.

“To be able to share the stage with these guys every week was what made it fun for me, so I would welcome any of it. Archie. Carly. Everybody but Jason.”

Jordin Sparks has sold 500,000 copies of her debut album and she hasn’t gotten an 8-hour sleep. What more with David Cook who I expect to sell millions on a debut album.

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – Last year’s “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks has advice for new winner David Cook- get as much sleep as you can.

Sparks said since winning the title last year she still hasn’t managed to get eight hours of sleep. She also told Cook to enjoy every moment you have.

An article at LATimes clearly suggests that David Archuleta is going to win the war against David Cook in the long run because he is romantic compared to rocket David Cook. The votes in American Idol decided upon that and David Cook is just going to pile up millions of fans worldwide. Think of a cross between Bon Jovi and Bono.

Anyways, in an excerpt of the article:

Some people think David Cook has an edge right now because he’s more “cool” in that rocker way, but David Archuleta has a secret and maybe more powerful advantage: He’s a more romantic figure. Female fans ache for him. Even crazy ole Paula Abdul admitted getting “goosebumps” when he sang those I-gotta-have-you-or-I’m-gonna-die power ballads. In short, there’s an extraordinary, passionate connection between David Archuleta and female fans that’s obvious to see and I’m not convinced David Cook’s got the same thing going on.

David Cook was Definitely the right Call

I wrote about the article that questions David Cook winning American Idol. This article says the opposite and thinks David Cook is the right call. DavidCookFansite.com has no doubt he is the American Idol winner.

In an excerpt:

I had a great time at the “American Idol” finale party hosted by Hot-FM (105.3) at Celebration Cinema South, where we watched on the big screen as David Cook was crowned Season 7 winner over David Archuleta.

You have to agree, Cook over Archuleta makes a lot of sense. I still say—when it’s all said and done—Cook and former contestant Michael Johns will have the longest-lasting careers of the entire cast.

But you never know. I had forgotten about Matthew Rogers (Season 3), and there he was last night, hosting the Archuleta party in Utah and interviewing Archie’s grandpa.

At the Hot-FM finale party (hosted by Todd Chance) in Grand Rapids, it was so much fun to meet up with local fans, including Roberta Swidersky, who has contributed to the “Going Gonzo” blog (along with Drew Willard) the past two seasons.

EW Q&A with David Cook sums up his American Idol Finale Style

Entertainment Weekly had a Q&A with David Cook and one of his replies summed up his style and rationale during the competition wherein he didn’t sing his famous Billie Jean and opted for a more risky unknown song.

As you progressed in the competition, was there a strategy?

Yes and no. I had one, in that I wanted to show America who I was gonna be as an artist once this was over, and I feel like I succeeded. I don’t feel I compromised who I was at any point. But, I don’t know, to be yourself isn’t really a strategy, I just did it.

This just explains how he carried his finale and chose the songs that defined him not so much on what was safe to perform.
